The Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science at Al-Ahgaff University held, on Thursday, an orientation and welcome meeting for newly admitted students for the 2026–2027 academic year. The meeting brought together students admitted to the Department of Information Technology and covered the academic programs in Computer Science, Information Technology, and Artificial Intelligence, as part of the Faculty's commitment to preparing students and integrating them into the university environment.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Hamza Al-Aydarus, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science, welcomed the new students and wished them a successful and distinguished academic year. He encouraged them to work hard, persevere, and make the most of the educational and training opportunities provided by the Faculty and the University.

For his part, Dr. Adnan Bin Yahya, Head of the Department of Information Technology, delivered an introductory presentation on the three academic programs, highlighting the nature of each specialization, its courses, the interconnections and integration among them, and the broad opportunities they offer students in the fields of technology and digital transformation.

Dr. Bin Yahya emphasized the importance of students developing their scientific and technical skills, while also strengthening their research and self-learning abilities, as these are fundamental pillars that help students expand their knowledge, keep pace with rapid developments in the technology sector, and better prepare for future integration into the labor market.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mohammed Al-Bouri, Director of the English Language Unit and Director of the University's Activities Department, presented the English Language Proficiency Program, providing a comprehensive explanation of its objectives and importance in supporting students' academic journey and enhancing their ability to engage with scientific sources and references in their fields of specialization.

Dr. Al-Bouri also encouraged students to engage positively in university life and actively participate in the various cultural, sports, and social activities organized by the University, highlighting their role in developing students' personalities and enhancing their skills and abilities alongside their academic achievement.

For his part, Mr. Bassam Al-Tamimi, the Faculty Registrar, explained a number of organizational and administrative regulations related to the educational process. He addressed the attendance and absence system, grading mechanisms, examinations and examination rounds, as well as cases of academic misconduct and the penalties associated with them.

Al-Tamimi stressed the importance of students adhering to university rules and regulations, emphasizing that such commitment contributes to the success of the educational process and helps provide a stable academic environment conducive to learning and excellence.

At the conclusion of the meeting, newly admitted students were given the opportunity to raise their questions and inquiries regarding academic programs, university regulations, and university life. Their questions were answered and the necessary clarifications were provided, helping them begin their university journey with greater clarity and awareness.
