The Establishment and Development of the University
Al-Ahqaff University was founded in Hadhramout according to the Ministerial Decree No. (5) 1994 issued on 27 Shaaban 1414 Hijri corresponding to 8 February 1994, and based on that it conducts all its academic, technical, administrative, and financial affairs which are governed by the University’s Statute, by-law, and the rules and regulations of the country.
The study commenced in the University in 1995 in the Faculty of Shariah and Faculty of Commercial Sciences & Business Administration. In the academic year of 1997-1998, the University added the Faculty of Computer Sciences and Faculty of Education & Islamic Sciences for Girls. In the academic year 2006-2007, the Faculty of Arts & Humanities (English Language Department) was opened. In the academic year 1998-1999, the first batch of students graduated from the University.
The University has witnessed tangible growth and development under the supervision of an academic body of the highest levels. The University became an active member in the League of Islamic Universities in addition to its membership in the Association of Arab Universities after fulfilling all the requirements of membership in both organizations. Moreover, the University offers a unique academic experience. That is, it has renewable different programs which stimulate the minds and encourage the intellectual innovation across various fields and expertise. Hence, the students pursue their studies in an academic environment that invokes persistence in learning to support their journey in seeking knowledge and self-realization through various choices and available opportunities; all of which shall build their capacities and develop their skills. In fact, the University works hard to offer the best resources, electronic systems, and advanced technologies to provide the best education and the suitable environment to produce psychologically, socially, and academically highly skilled manpower.
