**Message from the Head of the Department** In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Master Muhammad, his family, and his companions. Welcome to the Department of Fiqh and Its Foundations at this blessed Faculty. The Department supervises the teaching of Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh courses across all Faculty specializations: Sharia, Sharia and Law, and Sharia and Sunnah. Its mission is to prepare academically qualified scholars with sound Islamic knowledge who can contribute to raising community awareness and provide Sharia-based solutions to contemporary jurisprudential issues, while taking into consideration changing circumstances within the framework of the objectives of Islamic law (Maqasid al-Sharia). This is achieved through a strong focus on developing scientific research skills in the field of Islamic studies to ensure proper treatment of contemporary issues. Among Allah’s blessings upon this Department is the special care and support it received from the President of the University, Professor Abdullah bin Mohammed Baharoon, who ensured that the Department included among its founding members some of the leading scholars of Tarim, such as Sheikh Fadl bin Abdulrahman Bafadl and the eminent scholar Al-Habib Ali Al-Mashhour bin Muhammad bin Salim bin Hafiz, may Allah have mercy upon them, as well as Sheikh Muhammad bin Ali Ba‘awadhan and Sheikh Muhammad bin Ali Al-Khatib, may Allah grant them continued health and well-being. Today, many of their students have become distinguished professors within the Department, combining both authenticity and modern academic approaches in their education. In conclusion, we ask Allah Almighty to grant all faculty members and students dedication and enthusiasm in seeking, acquiring, and spreading beneficial knowledge with sincerity and adherence to the guidance of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, his family, and companions. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds.
