Al-Ahgaff University Joins the Muslim Ummah in Celebrating the Prophet’s Birthday

Tarim – 27 Rabi' al-Awwal /  9 September 2026 – Media Department

In celebration and veneration of the noble Prophetic presence, the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Al-Ahgaff University held a ceremony on the night of 28 Rabi' al-Awwal 1448 AH to commemorate the anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ birthday. The ceremony was held at the Faculty Mosque in the presence of His Eminence Habib Professor Abdullah bin Mohammed Baharoon, President of Al-Ahgaff University; the eminent scholar and educator Habib Umar bin Mohammed bin Hafiz, Dean of Dar al-Mustafa for Islamic Studies in Tarim; and a number of scholars, preachers, and students of Islamic knowledge.

The gathering opened with a reading from the Prophetic biography, Sharaf al-Anam, by Shaykh Shihab al-Din Ahmad al-Hariri. During the gathering, His Eminence the eminent scholar Habib Abdullah bin Mohammed Baharoon, may Allah preserve him, delivered an address in which he urged every Muslim to cultivate sincere love for the Prophet ﷺ, believe in what he brought, and follow the light with which he was sent.

In his address, he also pointed out that the path to human righteousness and emergence from darkness into light lies in adhering to the light and guidance brought by the Chosen Prophet ﷺ from his Lord. He spoke of Rabi' al-Awwal as the Month of Light and as an occasion to strengthen one’s connection with the Prophet ﷺ and to follow his biography and methodology.

His Eminence the eminent scholar Habib Umar bin Mohammed bin Hafiz then delivered an address, noting that belief in Allah and His Messenger is manifested through adherence to the balance that Allah and His Messenger have established for humanity through divine teachings, and through distancing oneself from ideas promoted by the enemies of Allah that bring nothing to people but destruction and loss in this world and the Hereafter.

He praised Al-Ahgaff University and its Faculty of Sharia and Law, noting that the Faculty was established by scholars and righteous men. He emphasized the importance of Muslims maintaining a connection with righteous people and the influence they have in upholding the balance revealed by Allah.

He concluded his address with prayers for the Muslim Ummah, Muslims, students of Islamic knowledge, and all those in attendance.
