The Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Al-Ahgaff University, Mr. Abdullah Awad bin Sumait, received at his office today the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Hussein Abdulrahman Baslamah, who was a guest at the Faculty on Saturday, 17/3/2018 in Tarim. The meeting of the minister with the dean dealt with all aspects of academic and development related to the education in the faculty and means of cooperation between the ministry and the faculty, thus contributing to the development of the mechanism of work between them and facilitate all aspects of academic cooperation.

At the beginning of the meeting, the dean welcomed the minister Baslamah, and appreciated the visit which reflects the Ministry's interest in higher education and the requirements it needs to improve its level to the ambitions required by the stage.

The minister listened to an explanation from the dean about the faculty, its curricula, its teaching staff and its educational system. In his speech, he said that the faculty is equivalent in its curricula to Al-Azhar University in Egypt and Damascus University in Syria.

The Minister expressed his deep thanks to the Faculty and its management for the hospitality and presented in his speech to many of the axes that are concerned with the educational aspect regarding the ministry and its efforts and projects to facilitate all means to do so.

The minister expressed his admiration for the arrangement and organization under which the Faculty of Sharia and Law is based, and combining it between the academic system while preserving the traditional heritage in the study of sciences and its achievement. He also valued the faculty's interest in diversity through its reliance on the equivalence of curricula in prestigious international universities such as Al-Azhar, Damascus and others. He stated that education at this stage has to keep abreast of the progress in the world in terms of academic and technical aspects, and that we must make use of all this to progress in education and go to the ranks of international universities, which can reflect positively on our country and our societies.

The Dean took the Minister and his accompanying delegation to a tour in the faculty's building where they visited the Library of the Faculty which is full of various scientific titles in all fields. The Minister was impressed by the rich diversity and richness of the library's titles.

In honor of the minister and his accompanying delegation, a luncheon was hosted where the minister and his accompanying delegation had lunch in the presence of the Faculty staff.

The meeting was attended, from the minister's side, by Dr. Khalid Omar Ba Saleem, Undersecretary for Education Affairs Sector and Mr. Zayed Bin Shehab, Media Secretary of the Minister. From the Faculty's side, Sheikh Mohammed bin Ali al-Khatib, professor of jurisprudence at the Faculty, Dr. Abdulrahman Abdullah al-Saqqaf, head of the department of jurisprudence, Mr. Abdullah Hussein al-Aidarous, head of the department of machine, Dr. Mustafa Hamed bin Sumait, head of the graduate studies department, and a number of Faculty's teaching staff and employees.
