In a new and important step to activate the idea of combining the theoretical and practical aspects of Islamic finance at the Faculty of Sharia and Law, a field visit for master's students at the faculty took place on Monday, 24/12/2018, accompanied by Dr. Ahmad Saleh Ba-Fadel professor of contemporary financial transactions, where they visited some banks in Seiyun.
The students' trip began with a visit to the Saba Islamic Bank, where they were welcomed by the bank's manager Mr. Ayman Al-Saadi, who welcomed Dr. Ahmed Saleh Ba-Fadel and the students, thanking them for this step which comes to activate the idea of linking the theoretical and practical aspects of Islamic finance and Islamic banks.
Mr. Al-Saadi explained to the students the mechanism of the bank and the banking operations that are dealt with as an Islamic bank and the difficulties facing the bank to continue to adopt the legal systems of its transactions in the presence of usurious ideas of and actions that are not based on Islamic legitimacy.
The students also met with Dr. Mohammed Al Kubaisi, a Sharia'a Supervisory expert at Saba Bank, who explained to them the mechanisms of Shari'a supervision of banking transactions and dealings at Saba Islamic Bank and that he verifies the legality of all banking transactions in it.
The students then accompanied by their teacher Dr. Ahmed Ba-Fadel went to the Islamic Solidarity Bank (Tadhamon). The bank's manager, Mr. Omar Mazroua, welcomed them and listened to their interventions explaining to them the bank's work in its Islamic banking activities. Mr. Mazroua said that Islamic banks currently hold 65% of the banking business in Yemen in general.
The students also listened to the bank's finance department official for a detailed explanation of the financing formulas and their Islamic applications at the bank.
The bank managers listened to the students' interventions, observations and inquiries and exchanged with them a talk about what they had learned and its practical application.
At the end of the visits, Dr. Ahmed Ba-Fadel exchanged certificates of appreciation with the managers of the two banks, taking photographs with the students.
The students were delighted with this unique experience and returned with joy as they achieved the goal of the visit to implant the theoretical information and support it with the practical application.
The students thanked their teacher, Dr. Ahmed Saleh Ba-Fadel for the opportunity to participate in this useful practical experience.
They also thanked the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Abdullah Awad Bin Sumait, who supported them in conducting this field visit.
