In the evening of Friday 17^th December, in the great hall of the College of Sharia and Law, Al-Ahgaff University in Tarim, a scientific symposium was held under the title (How to be Eloquent), in which the Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law, Dr. Abdullah Awadh bin Sumait, was hosted.

This symposium, which was organized by the Arabic Language Department of the Indonesian Students’ Union at Al-Ahgaff University, in cooperation with the Indonesian Students’ Union in Hadhramaut, coincides with the International Day of the Arabic Language, which falls on the eighteenth of December of each year.

The Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Bin Sumait, spoke about the foundations that should be taken care of to strengthen and improve Arabic on our tongues, the most important of which is glorifying the Arabic language and considering it a religion.

Dr. Bin Sumait also pointed out that one of the most important reasons for strengthening the Arabic language is the interest in the Holy Qur’an, which was revealed in a clear Arabic language, stressing that our distance from the Qur’an is a major reason for the weakness of the Arabic tongue at this time.

In his speech, Dr. Bin Sumait referred to the importance of reading in books of Arabic literature and the convention of hearing Arab speech and poetry, deepening their understanding, and trying to keep pace with their eloquence.

At the conclusion of his speech, Dr. Bin Sumait stressed the necessity of sensing the greatness of the Arabic language and its related duties, warning against dealing with the Arabic language negligently or considering it an inferior language.

It is noteworthy that the date of December 18^th of each year marks the International Day of the Arabic Language, and on this occasion many seminars and conferences are held in this regard.
