Dr. Abdullah Awadh bin Sumait, Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law, Al-Ahgaff University, received on Friday morning in the ceremony hall at Sayun International Airport, His Eminence the Minister, Dr. Al-Habib Salem Saqqaf Al-Jefri, President of the Union of Muslim Scholars, who arrived in our country on a visit to Hadramaut and Tarim that will last for days, during which he will visit scientific centers and meet with scholars and students of science.
His Eminence the Minister, Dr. Habib Al-Jefri, expressed his great happiness with this visit, thanking the Dean for the good reception, hoping that his visit would achieve its goal of linking bridges of communication between people of knowledge.
Dr. Habib Salem Saqqaf Al-Jefri was born in Solo - part of the Central Java province - in Indonesia on July 17, 1954. He obtained a doctorate in Sharia from the Islamic University in 1986. He assumed the position of Minister of Social Affairs in Indonesia. He also worked as a lecturer in postgraduate studies at the Islamic University of “Sharif Hidayatullah” State University in Jakarta, and a lecturer at the Faculty of Sharia at the Institute of Islamic and Arab Sciences in Jakarta.
He also worked as Director of the Sharia Advisory Center in Jakarta, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Treasury “Muamalat”, a member of the Sharia Board of Islamic Insurance “Takaful”, and a member of the Sharia Board of the National Bank in Jakarta.
About two weeks ago, he was appointed president of the International Union of Muslim Scholars after accepting the resignation of its president, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Raisuni.
