The Deanship of Quality and Academic Accreditation at Al-Ahgaff University held a workshop entitled "Preparation of the University's Strategic Plan: Preliminary Phase" and it was held in the electronic library at the University's Chancellery on Monday, February 28. It targeted the academic and administrative staff at the university, the deans of the faculties and the heads of the academic and administrative departments. The workshop lasted for three hours and was presented by the trainer, Mr. Mohsen Ali Basum.
The workshop began with a welcoming speech from the Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Sadeq Omar Maknoon, in which he thanked the Deanship of Quality and Academic Accreditation for the efforts made to advance the university, improve outcomes, and train academic and administrative staff. He added that this workshop comes within the university’s plan to obtain academic accreditation.
This was followed by a speech from the Dean of Quality, Dr. Ahmed Saleh Khured, in which he welcomed the attendees and spoke about the necessity of holding such a workshop to ensure quality and academic accreditation.
Mr. Mohsen Ali Basum discussed a set of main axes related to the development of the strategic plan, the most important of which is the SWOT Analysis method (analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) and the SMART method related to transforming general goals into smart goals.
He also discussed the types of strategic, tactical and operational objectives and the differences between them.
He then moved to the means of presenting the goals and linking them to the timetables and official mechanisms used according to the official models approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
At the end of the workshop, questions and inquiries were received and answered.
