The Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Al-Ahgaff University in Tarim, Dr. Abdullah Awadh Bin Sumait, received on Tuesday, 14 July 2026 (29 Muharram 1448 AH), the President of Hadhramout University, Prof. Mohammed Saeed Khanbash, and his accompanying delegation. The delegation included the University's Vice President, Prof. Abdullah Babair, the Secretary-General, Mr. Abdullah Eidid, the Dean of the Language Institute, Dr. Salem Ahmed Bin Nashi, and Mr. Hussein Basaleeb, Director of the President's Office. The visit aimed to strengthen academic cooperation and promote the exchange of expertise between the two institutions.
Dr. Bin Sumait welcomed the President of Hadhramout University and his delegation, expressing his appreciation for the visit and emphasizing that it reflects the spirit of communication and integration among higher education institutions. He also provided an overview of the Faculty of Sharia and Law, highlighting its history, academic departments, educational programs, and its diverse student body representing various nationalities, reflecting the Faculty's academic mission and its growing presence at both the national and international levels.
For his part, Prof. Mohammed Saeed Khanbash expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and generous hospitality, noting his pleasure in visiting the Faculty and learning firsthand about its academic experience. He commended the distinguished reputation of Al-Ahgaff University and praised the Faculty's role in preparing qualified graduates in Sharia and Law, highlighting the outstanding achievements and professional contributions of its alumni in various fields.
The meeting also featured several presentations. Dr. Mustafa Bin Sumait delivered an overview of the Faculty's postgraduate programs, explaining the academic structure, graduation requirements, and the procedures followed in the preparation and defense of graduate theses. He emphasized the Faculty's commitment to maintaining rigorous academic standards to ensure the quality of research and postgraduate outcomes.
In addition, Dr. Ahmed Bin Aqeel reviewed the development of the Department of Law, outlining its history, stages of growth, academic specializations, and the ongoing academic cooperation between Al-Ahgaff University and Hadhramout University, emphasizing the importance of this partnership in fostering knowledge exchange and strengthening institutional collaboration.
At the conclusion of the visit, both sides affirmed the importance of maintaining close communication and expanding academic and research collaboration in ways that contribute to the advancement of higher education, serve the community, and reinforce the role of Yemeni universities in promoting academic excellence.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Abdullah Hussein Al-Aidrous, Head of the Department of Instrumental Sciences, Mr. Alawi Al-Aidrous, Administrative Director of the Faculty, Dr. Saleh Baawdhan, Acting Head of the Department of Law, in addition to a number of faculty members and administrative staff.
