In celebration of the memorial of the Prophet’s birth (PBUH), and in the presence of Professor Habib Abdullah bin Muhammad Baharon, Chancellor of Al-Ahgaff University, and the Habib Alwi bin Abdul Rahman bin AbuBakr Al-Attas, a session of the Prophet’s birthday was held Wednesday evening in the Great Hall of the College of Sharia and Law expressing the joy for the birth of the Messenger of God, peace be upon him.
The session started with a reading of Al-Fatihah and a reading of the story of the Prophet’s birthday (Sumat Al-Durar) by Imam Ali bin Muhammad Al-Habashi, in which many Salafi poems were recited with Hadrami and Indonesian melodies and rhythms.
Habib Abdullah bin Muhammad Baharostated on gave a speech on this occasion in which he spoke about the joy that pervades the entire Islamic nation on this blessed day and this great occasion, and that it is a great phenomenon that pervades all Muslims, rejoicing the birth of the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him.
Habib Abdullah stated that the purpose of such sessions is to contact with the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him and take the light of his knowledge and wisdom in accordance with the Almighty's saying "Certainly did Allah confer [great] favor upon the believers when He sent among them a Messenger from themselves, reciting to them His verses and purifying them and teaching them the Book and wisdom, although they had been before in manifest error".
Habib Abdullah indicated that the one who is associated with the Messenger of God (PBUH), gets the special light and complete endorsement and that only comes through loving him (PBUH).
Habib Abdullah also advised that the seeker of knowledge must achieve love for God and His Messenger (PBUH), by seeking knowledge for the sake of God and His Messenger and not for the sake of appearance, fame, argument or other inferior intentions that are not related to God and His Messenger.
Habib Abdullah emphasized that one of the most important reasons for gaining love is to ask it from sheikhs of love who have achieved love for God and His Messenger such as our righteous predecessors like Imam Abdullah bin Alawi Al-Haddad and Imam Ali bin Mohammed bin Hussein Al-Habshi and their likes who transmitted the meanings of love in their books, prose and composition.
Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Rahman Al-Saqqaf, Head of the Department of Jurisprudence and its Principles, and Dr. Mustafa Hamid bin Sumait, Head of the Department of Graduate Studies at the College, also spoke two directive speeches to those present on this occasion.
Then some students recited poems in praise of the best of creatures (PBUH).
