The Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Al-Ahgaff University, Dr. Abdullah Awadh bin Sumait, met in his office on Thursday, with Dr. Ahmed bin Alawi Al-Saqqaf, a researcher in endowment (Awqaf) affairs.
At the beginning of the meeting, the dean of the faculty welcomed the researcher, Dr. Ahmed Al-Saqqaf, thanking him for this visit, which comes as a start of cooperation between the faculty and Dr. Al-Saqqaf regarding studies related to endowments (Awqaf).
Dr. Ahmed spoke with the Dean about the importance of issues related to endowment and the issues that revolve around it, stressing the necessity and importance of establishing an association concerned with civil endowment in which civil endowment affairs are organized, and it uses a legal lawyer, and people who have knowledge and experience in investing and developing endowment funds so that the endowment plays its role in society.
Dr. Al-Saqqaf also stressed the importance of the endowment supervisor being a person familiar with the administrative and legal aspects and knowledge of the endowment history so that this would result in a correct exploitation of the positive aspects of the endowment and thus avoid many negative aspects of the endowment that often arise from the wrong practices of some supervisors.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Saqqaf met in a scientific session with the fifth-level law students on the occasion of their study of the endowment law and explained to them the history of the endowment and its importance and the services it establishes, which are independence, stability and continuity.
Dr. Al-Saqqaf also explained to the students the importance of the civil endowment and the extent of the Western occupation's fascination with the Islamic endowment, which had a major role in carrying out many important fields that were outside the scope of the state's tasks such as medicine and education.
It is worth mentioning that Dr. Al-Saqqaf is a researcher interested in endowment affairs and has a doctoral thesis entitled (The International Endowment and Soft Power).
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Al-Saqqaf thanked the Dean of the Faculty and those in charge of it for the good reception and giving him the opportunity, wishing for continued cooperation and arrangement between him and the Faculty in subsequent events.
The session and the meeting were attended by Dr. Arafat bin Abdul Rahman Al-Maqdi, Head of the Department of Sharia and Law, and Dr. Nizar Sheikh Al-Qarn, Professor of Civil Law at the Faculty.
