The Faculty of Sharia and Law at Al-Ahgaff University organized a special gathering on the evening of 26 Rabiʿ al-Awwal 1447 AH to mark the blessed occasion of the Prophet’s Birthday. The event was held at the faculty mosque in the presence of Professor al-Habib Abdullah bin Muhammad Baharoon, President of Al-Ahgaff University, and al-Habib Omar bin Muhammad bin Hafiz, Dean of Dar al-Mustafa for Islamic Studies in Tarim, along with a distinguished group of scholars, preachers, and students of knowledge.
The gathering opened with a recitation from the Prophetic biography Sharaf al-Anam by Sheikh Shihab al-Din Ahmad al-Hariri. This was followed by a speech from Professor al-Habib Abdullah bin Muhammad Baharoon, in which he emphasized the duty of every Muslim to perfect their love for the Prophet ﷺ, believe in his message, and follow him sincerely. He stressed the importance of strengthening one’s bond with the Prophet, ensuring that his love is dearer to us than our own selves, and recognizing that such devotion is essential for protection from the corrupt influences of the age and for success in this life and the Hereafter.
Professor Baharoon also drew attention to the dangers of corruption affecting the Muslim community today, particularly its impact on the youth through excessive preoccupation with technology and mobile devices, warning of the negative consequences this brings.
Following this, al-Habib Omar bin Muhammad bin Hafiz delivered a speech highlighting that the essence of faith lies in true belief in Allah and His Messenger ﷺ, which is reflected through following the Prophet’s guidance. He cautioned against allowing love for worldly things to surpass love for Allah and His Messenger, describing such misguidance as a path leading away from truth and salvation.
He concluded by affirming that the divine truths conveyed by Allah to the Seal of the Prophets are the most worthy of adherence, and that strengthening love for Allah and His Messenger within the hearts of believers is the key to eternal happiness and everlasting bliss. The gathering concluded with heartfelt supplications for the Muslim Ummah, the students of knowledge, and all those present.
