Al-Ahgaff University participated in the first international scientific conference on education and sustainable development, represented by the researcher, consultant Dr. Hashem Alawi Muqaibel, Professor of International Law at the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Al-Ahgaff University.

The conference was held by Al-Mahra University on October 27-28, 2024. The conference focused on contemporary trends in sustainable development, the role of education in achieving its goals, and the role of contemporary challenges in sustainable development.

Researcher Dr. Hashem Alawi Muqaibel participated in it as a representative of Al-Ahgaff University with a research entitled "Reasons for weak research production in light of the reality of the Yemeni conflict crisis", where the research addressed the impact of the Yemeni conflict on sustainable development and research production, and the researcher presented an accurate description of the most important of these reasons where he reviewed the material and economic reasons, which are represented in the lack of a special budget for research spending, low wages and their interruption, lack of settlement and financial incentives, as well as the difficulty of obtaining research funding. The political and security reasons are represented by the politicization of research production centers, in addition to the security chaos and political instability, in addition to the difficulty of coordination between research bodies due to political conflicts.

While the social and interactive reasons are represented by brain drain, internal displacement and forced relocation, in addition to the lack of a suitable environment and psychological and social instability for the researcher.

At the end of his research, the researcher recommended a number of recommendations, the most important of which are: the endeavor by the competent authorities to develop an exceptional plan to support scientific research, in addition to the necessity of keeping universities and research centers away from political conflicts. The researcher also recommended the necessity of having a research portal containing all scientific journals and research centers to facilitate the scientific publishing process and increase the production of scientific research.
