As part of the activities of the “First Information Technology Week” at the Faculty of Computer Engineering and Science at Al-Ahgaff University, a lecture entitled “Information Technology: Basics and Skills” was held last Thursday, January 25, 2024, presented by student Hussein Adnan.
The lecture targeted first-level female students in the Information Technology Department and aimed to explain the basics of their field of specialization and clarify their scientific path during the four years, in addition to displaying the programming skills associated with it. The lecture focused on the fields of information technology graduates and what the trends and opportunities are available in the labor market, explaining to them the modern challenges they may face in the future, calling for diligence and perseverance to achieve their desired goals. The event was attended by Mrs. Suzan Ateeq, lecturer in the girls’ department, specializing in information technology.
As part of the week's activities, two lectures were held on Saturday morning, January 27, 2024, in the field of graphic design, targeting second-level students in the Information Technology Department. The first lecture was entitled (The Basics of Photoshop) presented by the student Ahmed Hatem. He began by giving an introduction to the program and its importance, then moved on to explaining the working page and the basic interface of the program. After that, he reviewed the program's tools and the difference between smart object and raster, explaining how to add texts and solve common problems in Photoshop. He also gave examples of importing images, the difference between their formats, and modifying colors, noting the use of the golden rule in design and paying attention to visual nutrition. He also gave a set of useful tips for designers and useful websites.
The student Alawi Al-Sabban also presented the second lecture, which was entitled (Introduction to Motion Graphics) where he reviewed the concept of motion graphics, its uses, features, and most famous types, explaining in a simplified way the steps for producing motion graphics. He also gave a practical application through the practical use of the After Effects program, producing a comprehensive work starting from the idea and ending with the final video release. At the end of the lecture, Al-Sabban invited his fellow students to learn, use and master the program due to its importance and the increasing need for it in the labor market.
All activities received significant interaction from male and female students through their questions and discussions during the lectures. The events were attended by Dr. Hamza Al-Aidaroos, Dean of the Faculty, and Mr. Omar Bahkam, Coordinator of the Information Technology Department. It is worth noting that the activities of the first Information Technology Week will continue until next Monday.
