In view of the repercussions and the conditions experienced by Hadramout ‚ and in view of the failure of security to fulfill the duty of protection required by law‚ Al-Ahgaff University professors, employees and students went out to the land of the university to hold a peaceful vigil against the ongoing aggressions despite the valid documents and ministerial and administrative directives issued by the heads of the General Authority for Lands and Planning, Governor Major General Faraj Salmeen Al-Bahsani, and the former Governors, which include the protection of the university land from attacks and the removal of all indiscriminate developments. In spite that the university has the possession of the land peacefully which lasted for nearly 18 years, where it fenced the eastern and southern sides where the marginalized groups resides in their slums, as well as the university built in the ground infrastructure to establish sewage manholes and extensions and the construction of a large reservoir of water which all cost nearly (500,000,000) million riyals.

The aim of this protest vigil is that the university wants to deliver its appeals to His Excellency the President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, Major General Faraj Salmeen Al Bahsani, Under Secretary Sheikh Amr bin Habrish and all the notables, sheikhs and seniors of the country and Hadhramout who care about its public interests and who appreciate the great achievements the University offered to the sons of Hadramout and Yemen and have been successful at the local and international levels.

The vigil does not speak about any claims or rights of third parties, but what we strongly reject are those illegal acts based on force, attack and bullying with security protection that disrupts the operation of the law and the role of government institutions (real estate office - works office) in carrying out their duties guaranteed by law as stipulated in Article (69) of the Law of State Lands and Real Estate, which weakens the prestige and role of the state by disrupting the implementation of the law, and the failure to implement the orders of the executive authorities by the security authorities, and the University has no objection to anyone demanding alleged claim of the land in accordance with the legal and legitimate frameworks.
