The President of the Anti-Corruption Authority in Yemen, Dr. Judge Afrah Badwilan, on Monday in Mukalla, got acquainted with the activities and programs of Al-Ahgaff University in Hadramaut province, accompanied by the director of the branch of anti-corruption Authority in Hadramout Eng. Salmeen Al-Mare'i.
During the visit, the President of the Anti-Corruption Authority, accompanied by the Chancellor of Al-Ahgaff University, Prof. Abdullah Mohammed Baharoon, and the Vice- Chancellor of the University, Dr. Sadiq Maknoun, toured the University's Engineering Consulting Office, which contains the schemes of the future campus of Al-Ahgaff University and they also visited the Library of Graduate Studies to get her acquainted with the sections of the library and their store of books and scientific references and studies. She also visited Kuwait Electronic Library in the University.
The President of the Anti-Corruption Authority in the country heard from the Chancellor of Al-Ahgaff University, Prof. Abdullah Mohammed Baharoon, a detailed explanation of the university which was founded in 1994 and its six faculties (Sharia & Law, Computer, Administration, Economics, Arts, Girls and Graduate Studies).
Prof. Baharoon pointed out that Al-Ahgaff University is a charity and non-profit university where students study without paying any tuition fees, pointing out that the number of students studying at the university currently about 1500 students, including 600 students from Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan and Somalia in addition to students from the Yemeni provinces.
For her part, Dr. Afrah Badwilan, president of the Anti-Corruption Authority, expressed her happiness for this visit and what she saw of the remarkable activities of this educational edifice and the provision of great services for students inside and outside Yemen, stressing the importance of involving universities in anti-corruption programs and raising the awareness of national staff to fight corruption through an academic alliance and a partnership between the Anti-Corruption Authority and the universities, this alliance has already begun to form by creating partnership agreements with some universities. Dr. Badwilan also praised the cooperation of the Governor of Hadramout Major General Faraj Salmeen Al-Bahsani and his support to the Authority in fighting corruption.
During the meeting, Judge Dr. Badwilan was briefed on the oppression suffered by the University of Ahgaff and trespassing on its lands west of the Guest House in Mukalla, which is estimated about (1,559,700) square meters. They showed her all the procedures and follow-ups related this issue taken with the concerned authorities. Dr. Badwilan expressed that the Anti-Corruption Authority is willing to respond to this and other issues of public interest.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary General of the University, Eng. Fayez Bin Shamla, Director of Legal Affairs at the University, Mr. Mohammed Bin Taleb, and Eng. Naeem Musaied, Director of the Engineering Consulting Office.
