Al-Ahgaff University presented scientific research under the heading "Challenges and Concerns of Employing Artificial Intelligence in Predicting Terrorist Attacks" at the international scientific conference on "The Future of Artificial Intelligence: Legal and Ethical Challenges," which was arranged by the Arab Democratic Center in the Republic of Egypt and other parties.
Dr. Hashim Muqaibel, the university's conference representative, discussed the concerns and difficulties associated with using artificial intelligence to forecast terrorist attacks, the misuse of data by private enterprises, the absence of international collaboration in the surveillance of technological terrorism, and the deficiencies in the legal framework governing the nature of terrorist activity monitoring and its effects on individuals.
In his scientific research, Dr. Muqaibel also mentioned that there are some suggested remedies to allay worries and difficulties. The most crucial of these is attempting to establish a clear vision for the data that artificial intelligence is intended to view and informing the user whether or not to use the data. Other suggested remedies include compelling businesses to sign agreements and pledges that include severe penalties for any misuse or exploitation of information, as well as efforts to develop artificial intelligence tools.
After the scientific research was completed, Dr. Muqaibel advised the relevant authorities to use prediction and control more widely and accurately, while also considering rights and freedom, ethical considerations, and the need for in-depth practical workshops and seminars to learn about the legal and ethical implications of modern technology.
Al-Ahgaff University is the only university in Yemen to have participated in this significant international conference, which brought together academics from ten Arab countries to discuss the ethical, legal, and societal issues surrounding the use of artificial intelligence with regard to data integrity, privacy, and the labor market.
