A delegation from the National Higher Education Classification Committee at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research concluded its two-day visit to Al-Ahgaff University on Monday. The visit aimed to establish the classification mechanism for Yemeni public and private universities for the year 2025.
During the visit, the committee met with Professor Sadiq Omar Maknoon, Vice President of Al-Ahgaff University, who welcomed the delegation and briefed them on the University’s educational process. He highlighted the University’s distinction in providing free education for Yemeni male and female students, as part of its contribution to serving and advancing the community and fulfilling its educational mission. He also noted that the University annually hosts a large number of international students from various nationalities, particularly from Southeast Asia—including Indonesia and Malaysia—and East Africa, such as Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania, and other countries.
For his part, Professor Abdulwahab Koiran, Head of the Committee, outlined the team’s tasks, which include verifying and reviewing the data previously submitted to the electronic classification platform, collecting students’ feedback on the quality of services provided by the University, and consulting academics and employers of Al-Ahgaff University graduates. He indicated that the committee has developed a timeline to complete its mission and review all data submitted through the electronic platform.
Professor Koiran expressed his sincere appreciation to the University leadership for the warm reception, generous hospitality, and the facilities provided to enable the committee to complete its work in accordance with the approved plan.
During the visit, the committee—accompanied by the University leadership—toured several University colleges, lecture halls, libraries, the electronic library, and the Hadramout Research Center, one of the University’s key achievements in training professionals, students from various disciplines, and preparing them for the labor market.
The visit was attended on behalf of Al-Ahgaff University by Professor Ahmed Saleh Khured, Dean of Quality Assurance and Academic Accreditation, his deputy Dr. Hamzah Ali Alaidaros, along with a number of faculty members.
