Professor Sadiq Omar Maknoon, Vice President of Al-Ahgaff University, emphasized that the university and the General Secretariat of the Association of Arab Universities (AARU) have a strong relationship spanning many years of work and cooperation in various academic fields.
This came during a meeting between the Vice President of Al-Ahgaff University and the Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, Dr. Amr Salama, on the sidelines of the General Conference of the Association of Arab Universities, which concluded in Kuwait from April 23 to 24, 2025. A group of presidents and secretaries-general of Arab and Islamic universities participated in the conference under the theme "Arab Higher Education in Light of Digital Transformation and Enhancing Regional Integration."
Professor Maknoon, Vice President of Al-Ahgaff University, conveyed the greetings of the President of the University, Professor Abdullah Muhammad Baharoon, to His Excellency Dr. Amr Salama, appreciating his effective role and tireless efforts in advancing the academic work of the Association of Arab Universities, his competent leadership of this union, and his harnessing of available resources to develop higher education in the Arab world.
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, Dr. Amr Salama, praised the role of Al-Ahgaff University and its position among private Yemeni universities, the academic mission it provides, the quality of its output locally and internationally, and its attraction of students from various countries in East Asia and Africa. He thanked the university's leadership for its participation in various scientific conferences and events held under the umbrella of the Association of Arab Universities, wishing the university continued development and progress.
Al-Ahgaff University, founded in 1995, was the first university in Hadhramaut to obtain membership in the Association of Arab Universities in 1998 at the 40th session of the Association held in Sana'a. The university was granted full membership in 2007 at a conference held at the University of Science and Technology in Yemen.
