In a distinguished event embodying the spirit of loyalty and academic belonging, Al-Ahgaff University, in coordination with the Alumni Affairs Unit, organized the first alumni gathering for the Faculty of Sharia and Law in the city of Tarim, Wadi Hadramout. The event witnessed a wide turnout of both recent and long-standing graduates, as well as several faculty members.
The gathering commenced with a welcoming speech by Dr. Abdullah Awadh bin Sumait, Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law. In his address, he expressed his appreciation for this pioneering initiative, which provides a meaningful platform for alumni to reconnect and reflect the enduring bond with their alma mater. He emphasized the faculty's pride in the accomplishments of its graduates in their communities and professional fields.
Dr. Hashim Alwi Muqaibel, Head of the Alumni Affairs Unit, also spoke during the event, expressing gratitude to the university and faculty administration for their continuous support. He reviewed the unit’s key achievements and outlined its future plans—most notably, the preparation for a comprehensive alumni conference and efforts to enhance effective communication channels between alumni and the university.
Attendees then listened to a recorded message from the University President, Professor Al-Habib Abdullah Mohammed Baharoon. He expressed his happiness with the convening of this first alumni gathering, underscoring the importance of strengthening ties among graduates and fostering collaboration for mutual benefit. He highlighted that such relationships are a cornerstone of the knowledge economy and that a strong university connection opens doors for consultation and joint projects. He encouraged launching meaningful initiatives and training programs that serve the community, concluding with well wishes for success and hopes that this event marks the beginning of enduring and fruitful communication.
In a recorded address, Judge Hussein Ali Al-Qael praised the academic foundations laid by the faculty and its contributions to knowledge enrichment. He thanked the university for its ongoing efforts in graduating qualified professionals in the fields of Sharia and law.
Following that, Dr. Abdullah Abdulqadir Al-Aidaroos, President of the University of Wasatiyya Sharia, thanked the University President for organizing the gathering and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Al-Ahgaff University and its academic institutions.
Former Director of the Endowments Office in Seiyun, Mr. Hisham Al-Harithi, recalled his days as a student and the esteemed professors he studied under. He praised the event as a promising step toward a more connected future between the university and its alumni, expressing his full willingness to support the university in any way he can.
Dr. Arafat Abdulrahman Al-Maqadi, Head of the Sharia and Law Department, spoke about the stages of establishing the Law Department and the efforts to qualify its teaching staff. He emphasized the importance of law from an Islamic perspective and its role in serving society in line with Sharia principles.
Judge Saeed Balwe'al, Head of the Public Funds Court in Hadramout, delivered a comprehensive speech in which he highlighted the faculty's role in preparing its graduates and the profound benefit they have gained from the knowledge and skills acquired, positively impacting their professional and academic advancement.
The gathering also included contributions from several faculty members and alumni, who shared their memories at the university and offered suggestions for enhancing the educational process and alumni engagement.
Poet and alumnus Mansour Yamani Bajeri, Director of the Bour Cultural Dewan, recited a heartfelt poem expressing his sincere emotions toward the university and its professors, earning the admiration of the audience.
The event concluded with a recitation of Al-Fatiha in remembrance of departed faculty and alumni. This was followed by warm greetings and group photos, capturing joyful moments filled with pride and gratitude.
