Prof. Dr. Ahmed Khured, Dean of Quality and Academic Accreditation at Al-Ahgaff University, took part in the official recognition ceremony organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research on Wednesday in the capital, Aden. The event honoured Yemeni universities participating in the National University Ranking initiative.
The ceremony was held under the patronage of the Prime Minister, Mr. Salem Saleh Bin Buraik, and was supported by Al-Awn Foundation for Development. It was attended by His Excellency Prof. Dr. Khaled Al-Wasabi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
In his address, Dr. Khaled Omar Basleem, Deputy Minister for Educational Affairs and Chair of the Evaluation Committee, emphasized the significance of the national ranking system as a tool for fostering positive competition among universities, enhancing the quality of higher education, and improving both academic and administrative performance.
Dr. Basleem also reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to promoting a culture of quality and academic accreditation across the higher education sector to ensure that university outcomes align with the demands of local and international labour markets.
During the ceremony, nine participating universities were honoured, including Al-Ahgaff University. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Khured received the honorary shield on behalf of the university in recognition of its engagement in the ranking process.
In a statement to the university’s media team, Dr. Khured expressed his deep appreciation for the Ministry’s forward-looking vision and its commitment to advancing higher education. He noted that Al-Ahgaff University was among nine public and private universities that actively participated in the ranking and fully adhered to the standards and criteria set by the evaluation committee. He described the recognition as a testament to the university’s achievements and reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to continued progress in education and research development.
