In a joyful and grand ceremony held under the slogan “If they seek discord, we shall resist”, the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Al-Ahgaff University celebrated the graduation of 160 students from its three departments—Sharia, Sharia and Law, and Hadith and its Sciences—on Thursday, May 29, 2025.
The event was graced by the presence of Professor Abdullah Mohammed Baharoon, President of Al-Ahgaff University, along with department heads, faculty members, administrative staff, students, and a large gathering of citizens and families of the graduates. The ceremony commenced with a recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by student Muhammad Rifaat from Indonesia, followed by two Hadiths narrated with an unbroken chain of transmission by student Sayyid Muhammad Mawla al-Hindwan.
In a heartfelt address on behalf of the graduating class, student Muhammad Abdullah Bawazir expressed sincere gratitude to all who contributed to the academic and personal development of the students—foremost among them the university president, Faculty dean, faculty members, and staff. He emphasized the importance of continuous learning, professional development, and actively contributing to societal advancement.
Dr. Abdullah Awadh bin Sumait, Dean of the Faculty, welcomed attendees in his address, expressing joy at the graduation coinciding with the blessed days of Dhul-Hijjah. He congratulated the graduates, describing them as the fruitful outcome of the combined efforts of the university and the families who supported them. He encouraged the students to remain committed to knowledge, piety, diligence, and integrity.
In his keynote address, Professor Abdullah Mohammed Baharoon congratulated the graduates and celebrated their accomplishments, naming this cohort “The Noble Class.” He offered heartfelt advice as they embark on their professional journeys, urging them to uphold their values and resist calls that deviate from the principles of the prophets and messengers. He emphasized the importance of adhering to the class’s chosen motto, standing firm in faith and rejecting ideologies that contradict prophetic guidance.
Professor Baharoon concluded by thanking the faculty for their dedication and the students' families for their trust in the university.
The celebration also featured a poignant poem by graduate Mohiuddin Ahmed from Somalia, which was warmly received by the audience. The event concluded with honoring outstanding students who achieved academic excellence, memorized the entire Qur’an, and the formal recognition of all graduates with awards and certificates.
