His Excellency Professor Dr. Nasaruddin Umar, Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, received Professor Sayyid Abdullah Mohammed Baharoon, President of Al-Ahgaff University, at his office in Jakarta as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen academic and cultural ties between educational institutions in the Islamic world.
During the meeting, His Excellency expressed his admiration for the role of Al-Ahgaff University and its distinguished efforts in serving students of knowledge and preparing highly qualified academic cadres. He particularly commended the achievements of the university's Indonesian graduates, many of whom now hold significant academic and religious positions across the country.
Dr. Umar emphasized that the Ministry of Religious Affairs closely follows the academic progress of Indonesian students at Al-Ahgaff University and greatly appreciates the university’s commitment to providing a disciplined educational environment that integrates both Islamic and academic knowledge. He noted that the cooperation between the two sides stands as a model for successful educational partnerships between the Arab world and Southeast Asia.
For his part, Professor Abdullah Baharoon expressed his deep gratitude to the Minister for the warm reception and generous hospitality, affirming the university's pride in the strong and historic relationship it shares with Indonesia. He also highlighted the positive impact Al-Ahgaff students continue to make in their communities, particularly in the fields of religion and social development.
The University President emphasized that since its founding, Al-Ahgaff University has welcomed students from diverse nationalities—especially from Southeast Asia—providing them with an academic environment that reinforces their Islamic identity, deepens their religious understanding, and prepares them for leadership roles upon returning to their home countries. He also extended his best wishes to the Minister for continued strength and success in his noble mission. In response, the Minister expressed his hope for future meetings with Professor Baharoon.
The meeting also included discussions on ways to enhance academic cooperation between Al-Ahgaff University and educational institutions affiliated with the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs. The two sides explored the possibility of signing future memoranda of understanding to deepen collaboration, ensure ongoing engagement, and facilitate the exchange of expertise among Islamic universities.
